Role Description

The Lead Civil and Structural Design Engineer will oversee and execute civil and structural design for extra high voltage substations (AIS/GIS) and overhead line projects, ensuring compliance with applicable codes, standards, and client specifications. In this full-time, on-site role based in Kolkata, the engineer will perform detailed analysis and design using tools such as STAAD.Pro and RCDC, prepare and review design calculations, drawings, and technical documentation, and coordinate closely with electrical and mechanical engineering teams. Day-to-day responsibilities include guiding junior engineers, managing design deliverables and schedules, supporting project planning and interface management, and addressing technical queries from clients and contractors. The role also involves participating in design reviews, meeting with clients, optimizing designs for constructability and cost-effectiveness, and ensuring quality control across all civil and structural engineering outputs.

Qualifications

• Candidates should possess strong Civil Engineering Design skills, with a solid understanding of foundations, structures, and infrastructure for substations and overhead lines.
• Candidates should possess Structural Engineering and Structural Analysis skills to perform detailed design and verification of substation structures, gantries, equipment foundations, and line supports.
• Candidates should possess Project Management skills to plan design activities, manage timelines and deliverables, coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, and support client communication.
• Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Civil Engineering or a closely related discipline from an accredited institution.
• Minimum ten (10) years of experience in design and engineering of heavy Industrial projects is a mandatory requirement. Experience in High voltage substations (AIS/GIS) and related civil/structural works; experience with overhead line projects will get preference.
• Proficiency in STAAD.Pro, RCDC, AutoCAD, and general computer operations; familiarity with relevant international and Indian design codes and standards.
• Strong technical writing in English and documentation skills is also mandatory.
• Lady Engineers having above qualifications will get preference.
