Design Engineer (Overhead Lines)

M Group Energy is looking for a talented Design Engineer to join our growing engineering team, supporting the delivery of overhead line and power infrastructure projects. This role is ideal for a technically capable engineer with experience in transmission and distribution design who is passionate about delivering safe, compliant, and innovative engineering solutions. This role is based in Pune, India.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Responsibilities

• Produce overhead line designs using PLS-CADD and Tower software.
• Apply and interpret industry standards including National Grid, SPEN, SSE, ENA, and other relevant technical requirements.
• Develop designs with a strong understanding of conductors, insulators, fittings, and associated transmission line components.
• Support the delivery of technically robust, safe, and compliant engineering solutions.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of design processes, standards, and best practices.
• Maintain clear communication across engineering teams, project stakeholders, and the wider business.
• Work in accordance with company policies, procedures, and quality requirements.

Design Delivery

• Produce engineering calculations, drawings, specifications, reports, and technical documentation.
• Develop practical and cost-effective design solutions that meet client and regulatory requirements.
• Support feasibility studies, assessments, and design reviews.
• Review and provide guidance on work completed by junior team members where appropriate.

Site & Stakeholder Engagement

• Identify risks, constraints, and opportunities that influence project delivery.
• Liaise with clients, contractors, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated project outcomes.

What We're Looking For

Essential

• Minimum 2 years of experience in Overhead line design
• Strong understanding of engineering principles within a design environment.
• Experience producing technical calculations, drawings, and engineering reports for overhead line design.
• Proficiency in PLS CADD and TOWER
• Design experience within utilities, energy, infrastructure, or construction sectors.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work independently while contributing to multi-disciplinary project teams.
• Knowledge of transmission and distribution engineering standards and practices.

Desirable

• Working towards Incorporated Engineer (IEng) or Chartered Engineer (CEng) status.
• Experience mentoring or supporting junior engineers.
