Senior Civil Design Engineer

M Group Energy is seeking an experienced Senior Civil Design Engineer to join our Civil Design team supporting major Overhead Line (OHL) construction projects, in Pune, India. This is an excellent opportunity for a civil or geotechnical engineer with strong foundation design expertise to contribute to projects from concept development through to construction delivery. Experience within the OHL industry is advantageous but not essential.

Key Responsibilities

Civil & Geotechnical Design

• Undertake geotechnical desktop studies and risk assessments.
• Develop specifications for ground investigations (GI), asset inspections, and pile design.
• Carry out foundation capacity assessments and design analysis.
• Deliver temporary works designs including excavation shoring, working platforms, and culverts.
• Produce new-build foundation designs, including reinforced concrete foundations and pile caps.
• Develop upgrade and strengthening solutions for existing foundations.
• Interpret site investigation data and ground conditions to develop robust engineering solutions.

Technical Leadership

• Lead the development and checking of engineering calculations, drawings, reports, and assessments.
• Provide technical guidance on complex engineering challenges.
• Support design reviews, technical assurance activities, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Mentor and support junior engineers and technicians.

Project Delivery & Stakeholder Management

• Collaborate with multidisciplinary design and project delivery teams.
• Engage with clients, contractors, and external stakeholders to support project delivery.
• Support multiple projects while maintaining quality, safety, and programme commitments.

What You'll Bring

Essential

• Minimum 6 years' experience in Civil Design Engineering.
• Strong understanding of foundation engineering and geotechnical principles.
• Appreciation of engineering geology.
• Knowledge of ground investigation works and processes.
• Competency in reinforced concrete structural design.
• Ability to carry out risk assessments throughout project lifecycles.
• Strong report writing skills and attention to detail.
• Experience conducting and reviewing site surveys and investigations.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

Desirable

• Experience within the Overhead Line (OHL) industry.
• Chartered Engineer status (CEng) or working towards professional registration.
• Experience with temporary works design and construction support.
• Familiarity with client, utility, or infrastructure sector design standards.
