Role Description The Pattern Faculty role at IIFD Kolkata is a full-time, on-site position responsible for teaching pattern making and garment construction to fashion design students. The faculty member will plan and deliver lectures, studio sessions, and practical demonstrations, while developing course materials, assignments, and assessments aligned with academic standards. Day-to-day activities include guiding students through pattern drafting, fittings, and technical problem-solving, providing feedback on their work, and supporting them in building professional portfolios. The role also involves participating in curriculum development, academic reviews, and institutional events, as well as collaborating with colleagues to maintain a high-quality learning environment in Kolkata.

Qualifications

  • Strong expertise in pattern making, garment construction, and technical design, with the ability to teach foundational and advanced techniques.
  • Proficiency in using pattern drafting tools and, ideally, familiarity with digital pattern-making or CAD software relevant to fashion design.
  • Prior experience in fashion education or industry, such as working as a pattern maker, technical designer, or related role in apparel production.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Fashion Design, Pattern Making, Textile Design, or a closely related discipline from a recognized institution.
  • Effective classroom management and communication skills, with the ability to mentor diverse learners and provide constructive, practical feedback.
  • Ability to develop lesson plans, course content, and assessments that align with academic standards and industry requirements.
  • Collaborative mindset, professionalism, and willingness to contribute to academic events, workshops, and student industry exposure initiatives.
  • Awareness of contemporary fashion trends, sustainable practices, and emerging technologies in fashion design and production.
