Nexen Power is the Renewable Energy business of Malpani Group, focused on developing, owning and operating renewable energy projects across India. With over 25 years of experience in the renewable energy sector, Nexen Power has built a strong presence across Wind and Solar energy, with an ongoing portfolio of approximately 600 MW across Solar, Wind, Hybrid and BESS projects. The company continues to explore and develop opportunities across emerging renewable energy technologies and business models.

Role Objective
Nexen Power is seeking a highly driven and analytically strong professional to join the Corporate Development Team as an Analyst. The ideal candidate will support the evaluation, development, and management of renewable energy projects across their lifecycle, including Solar, Wind, Hybrid and BESS. The role will involve close collaboration with multiple internal functions and external stakeholders, along with strong financial modelling capabilities and an understanding of the Indian renewable energy market.

Key Responsibilities
A. Financial Modelling & Project Evaluation
    • Develop and manage project finance and cash flow models for renewable energy projects such as Solar PV, Wind, Hybrid and BESS to assess profitability, equity returns and key risks.
    • Maintain project assumptions documentation, return trackers and tariff models.
    • Analyse project economics and key financial assumptions to support project evaluation and decision-making.
    • Perform sensitivity and scenario analysis to assess the impact of key project assumptions on project returns.
B. Cross-functional Project Evaluation
    • Engage cross-functionally with Energy Markets, Business Development, Project Development and Operations teams to develop comprehensive business insights.
    • Support evaluation of greenfield renewable energy projects across various technologies.
    • Coordinate with internal teams to gather and analyse project, commercial and operational information.
    • Support the assessment of project opportunities throughout the development lifecycle.
C. PPA & Commercial Analysis
    • Assist in the assessment of Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) structures within utility-scale tender processes and the Commercial & Industrial (C&I) sector.
    • Analyse tariff structures and key commercial assumptions.
    • Support evaluation of the commercial attractiveness and economics of potential renewable energy opportunities.
D. Renewable Energy Market Analysis
    • Monitor and interpret trends in the Indian renewable energy market.
    • Track relevant regulatory developments, government policies and market frameworks.
    • Assess the potential implications of market and regulatory developments on project economics.
    • Conduct research on renewable energy technologies, market opportunities and industry developments.
E. Fundraising & Due Diligence Support
    • Support fundraising activities by maintaining internal and external data rooms.
    • Coordinate responses to investor and lender due diligence requirements.
    • Work with internal teams to gather and consolidate information required by external stakeholders.
    • Assist in preparation and review of project information for investors and other stakeholders.
F. Reporting & Investment Committee Support
    • Assist with internal and external reporting requirements.
    • Prepare investor presentations, CIMS documentation and Investment Committee (IC) materials.
    • Support preparation of project evaluation presentations and management updates.
    • Present analytical findings and project insights in a clear and structured manner.
G. Stakeholder Management
    • Collaborate effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders.
    • Build strong working relationships across functions to support project evaluation and development.
    • Demonstrate the ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities and deliverables.
    • Maintain a high level of accuracy, ownership and professionalism in all assignments.
Competencies & Skills
    • Strong financial modelling and analytical skills
    • Strong proficiency in MS Excel and PowerPoint
    • Good understanding of renewable energy project economics
    • Understanding of Solar, Wind, Hybrid and BESS projects
    • Understanding of PPA structures and tariff models
    • Good understanding of the Indian renewable energy and power market
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
    • Ability to interpret market and regulatory developments
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
    • Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional environment
    • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
    • Strong attention to detail and accuracy

Qualifications & Experience
    • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Finance, Business, Economics, Engineering or a related discipline
    • Minimum 5 years of financial modelling experience
    • Experience in Renewable Energy, Infrastructure, Investment Banking, Corporate Finance or Consulting will be preferred.
    • Strong analytical skills with advanced proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint
    • Understanding of Indian power markets, renewable energy regulations, and annuity revenue based structures preferred.
    • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
