We are looking for Master's and PhD-level Manufacturing Engineering Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to support an AI project focused on developing and evaluating Question–Solution–Answer (QSA) datasets. The role involves reviewing technical content, interpreting manufacturing drawings, process diagrams, and schematics, creating engineering questions, developing step-by-step solutions, and validating answers to help improve the quality and accuracy of AI systems.
Role Overview
- Create high-quality engineering questions based on technical content, manufacturing drawings, process flow diagrams, tooling schematics, and technical figures.
- Review and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing), process plans, tooling/fixture designs, and specifications.
- Develop accurate and logically structured step-by-step solutions covering manufacturing processes such as machining, casting, forming, welding, joining, additive manufacturing, and assembly.
- Validate final answers for technical accuracy, relevance, consistency, and completeness.
- Review existing QSA content and identify technical errors, inconsistencies, ambiguities, or missing information.
- Apply relevant manufacturing engineering principles, standards (ISO, ASME, ANSI), and process knowledge while developing and reviewing content.
- Address topics such as process planning, tolerance stack-up, tool design, quality control (SPC, inspection methods), material selection, production planning, automation, and lean manufacturing.
- Ensure questions, solutions, and answers are clear, precise, and technically accurate.
- Complete assigned tasks within the required timelines.
- Participate in quality checks and incorporate feedback when required.
Requirements
- Master's degree or PhD in Manufacturing Engineering, Production Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a closely related Mechanical Engineering specialization.
- Strong subject matter expertise in manufacturing processes, tooling, and production systems.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, process diagrams, tooling schematics, and technical specifications.
- Strong technical problem-solving, analytical, and critical-thinking skills.
- Ability to develop accurate, well-structured, step-by-step manufacturing/process engineering solutions.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to identify technical errors, inconsistencies, and ambiguities.
- Strong written communication skills with the ability to clearly explain complex technical concepts.
- Previous experience in manufacturing, production engineering, process design, quality engineering, tooling/fixture design, academia, teaching, consulting, or related fields is preferred.
- Ability to work independently in a remote/freelance environment.
- Reliable internet connection and access to a computer/laptop.
