What this role is about

You are the bridge between design and the factory. You take product and CAD designs and make them manufacturable — optimising them for the chosen production processes, tooling, cost, quality and reliability before tooling is cut. You work hand-in-hand with vendors and manufacturing partners to move products from prototype to stable mass production, and you own the manufacturability and quality decisions that keep launches on time and defect rates low.

What You'll Do

  • Review product and CAD designs for manufacturability, tooling feasibility, cost and ease of assembly — and drive design changes before tooling is committed.
  • Own DFM and DFA analysis across the relevant processes (injection moulding, sheet metal, machining, die casting, etc.).
  • Define and validate tolerances, GD&T, tolerance stack-ups and material selection for reliable, repeatable production.
  • Work with vendors and contract manufacturers on tooling, first-article inspection, pilot runs and process validation.
  • Lead the transition from prototype to mass production, resolving technical and process issues on the floor.
  • Troubleshoot production problems, reduce defects, scrap and rework, and drive continuous cost and quality improvement.
  • Run cost optimisation and value-engineering initiatives without compromising quality.
  • Own manufacturing documentation: engineering drawings, BOMs, control plans, inspection standards and engineering changes (ECR/ECO).
  • Identify manufacturing and quality risks early and put mitigation plans in place.

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical / Manufacturing / Production Engineering or a related discipline.
  • 2–4 years in DFM, manufacturing engineering or product engineering for mass-manufactured products.
  • Strong proficiency in SolidWorks (preferred) or AutoCAD.
  • Solid understanding of DFM/DFA principles, GD&T, tolerance stack-up analysis and material selection.
  • Hands-on knowledge of manufacturing processes such as injection moulding, sheet metal, machining or die casting, and their tooling.
  • Experience creating engineering drawings, BOMs and manufacturing documentation.
  • Comfortable working directly with vendors/suppliers and on the factory floor.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and the ability to manage multiple products in parallel.
