Art Director - Performance Creatives

About the Role
We're looking for a Art Director who is equal parts designer, copywriter, and conceptual
thinker - someone who can take a performance marketing brief and turn it into
scroll-stopping creative for Meta, Google, and other platforms. This is not a "just execute the
brief" role. We need someone who can originate ideas - the copy line and the visual - and
then have the craft to bring it to life themselves.
You'll be working on high-volume, fast-turnaround performance creative, so you need to be
as comfortable ideating ten hooks in an hour as you are polishing a hand-drawn illustration
or building out a storyboard for a video shoot.
What You'll Do
● Conceptualize and design performance-first creatives (statics, carousels, videos) for
Meta, Google, and other digital platforms, owning the idea from brief to final file.
● Write sharp, out-of-the-box copy for hooks, headlines, and ad narratives - you
should be as strong with words as you are with a design tool.
● Design and art-direct in a distinct, hand-illustrated visual style (think Blinkit, Swiggy,
Zepto-style creative language) alongside more polished, conventional design work.
● Build storyboards and key visuals/graphics for video and motion projects, working
closely with video editors and production teams.
● Rapidly test and iterate on creative concepts based on performance data, staying
close to what's actually working on-platform.
● Use AI design/creative tools (e.g. Midjourney, Firefly, generative fill workflows, etc.) to
speed up ideation and production without compromising on craft.
● Maintain a high design bar across all output - typography, layout, color, and
illustration - while working within the speed constraints of performance marketing.
● Collaborate with performance marketing, brand, and content teams to align creative
output with campaign goals and platform best practices.
● Mentor junior designers and provide creative direction/feedback on their work, where
applicable.
What We're Looking For
● 8–10 years of experience in a design/art direction role, with a portfolio that clearly
shows both conceptual thinking and hands-on execution.
● Strong, versatile graphic design skills - you can move between clean commercial
design and quirky, hand-drawn/illustrative styles.
● Proven ability to write copy, not just design around someone else's - headlines,
hooks, and short-form ad copy that's sharp and platform-native.
● Hands-on expertise in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and other relevant design
software (After Effects/Premiere Pro is a plus for storyboarding and video work).
● Working knowledge of AI creative tools and how to fold them into a fast-paced design
workflow.
● A genuine understanding of what makes performance creative work on Meta and
Google - this isn't brand design, it's design that has to earn a click/conversion.
● Strong storyboarding skills for video/motion content.
● A conceptual mindset - someone who can look at a brief and come back with an
idea, not just a layout.
● Ability to work at speed without dropping quality, and to take feedback/data and
iterate fast.
Good to Have
● Experience working with D2C, e-commerce, or quick-commerce brands.
● Familiarity with short-form video trends (Reels/Instagram/YouTube Shorts) and what
makes them perform.
● Prior experience mentoring or leading a small design team.
