As an Underwriter, Life & Health, you will be responsible for underwriting and claims, client servicing, support of marketing research, claims & audit, training for SCOR SE India Branch.

  • Contributing to all aspects of risk management (underwriting and claim) work within SCOR to ensure that the India team meets its goal.
  • Assist in managing day-to-day underwriting and claims case volumes while delivering high-quality service to clients and supporting training initiatives and client audit activities, as required.

Main Scope

  • To implement SCOR’s underwriting policy and principles and ensure that risks are assumed on a sound and profitable basis.
  • Ensure underwriting and claims assessments are conducted in accordance with SCOR Global Life underwriting and claims guidelines
  • Underwriting proposals within defined authority and TAT
  • Processing of claims within defined authority and TAT
  • Refer cases beyond authority limits to Senior Underwriters or the Head of Underwriting & Claims for review and decision.
  • Assist in maintaining underwriting and claims records, reports, and management information systems (MIS).
  • Support underwriting and claims audits conducted by senior team members and assist in implementing audit recommendations.
  • Assist senior team members and Head of Underwriting & Claims for analyzing client’s training requirements in underwriting and claims.
  • Support the preparation of underwriting and claims analysis, presentations, and client-related reports.
  • Monitor regulatory developments and industry trends and escalate relevant updates to senior team members.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure efficient underwriting and claims operations while maintaining service standards and quality.

Qualifications

Required experience & competencies

  • Minimum 7 years of relevant working experience in insurance/reinsurance fields, in the areas of medical underwriting and claims.
  • Experience in Health &/or Life Insurance (Underwriting & Claims)
  • Degree in Science, Pharmaceutical science, MBBS, BAMS or BHMS 
  • ACII, LOMA, CLU and other relevant professional qualifications 
  • Awareness of the Indian insurance market and regulatory environment, with a willingness to develop deeper market and client knowledge.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and eager to learn and develop technical expertise in underwriting and claims.
  • Ability to prepare and present information effectively within team and internal forums.
  • Experience of using Microsoft Outlook, EXCEL, ACCESS, POWERPOINT and PRESENTATIONS
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to adapt to changing business requirements and work effectively within defined timelines.
  • Strong team player.
  • Willingness to travel as required
