Database Administrator (DBA)

Location - Mohali, Punjab, India

Experience - 3–5 Years


Role Purpose

Manage, maintain, and optimize database systems supporting Americana's business-critical applications, ensuring high availability, performance, security, and compliance across on-premise and cloud (Azure/Oracle) environments.


Key Responsibilities

  • Administer and maintain MS SQL Server and Oracle Database instances across production, UAT, and dev environments
  • Monitor database performance, tune queries/indexes, and resolve bottlenecks proactively
  • Manage backup, recovery, and disaster recovery (DR) strategies; conduct periodic DR drills
  • Implement and maintain database security — user roles, access controls, encryption, audit logging
  • Support Azure SQL Database / Managed Instance provisioning, scaling, and cost optimization
  • Collaborate with application teams (Flutter/.NET/Oracle OIC) on schema design, data modeling, and integration performance
  • Manage patching, version upgrades, and capacity planning
  • Set up and maintain monitoring/alerting (Azure Monitor, SQL Profiler, OEM) for proactive issue detection
  • Support data migration activities during platform modernization projects
  • Maintain documentation: runbooks, SOPs, DR plans, and change records
  • Participate in on-call rotation for production incident support (P1/P2)


Required Skills & Experience


Core DB - MS SQL Server (mandatory); Oracle DB exposure preferred

Cloud - Azure (SQL DB/Managed Instance, Azure Monitor); Oracle Cloud exposure a plus

Skills - Backup/recovery, HA/DR (Always On, replication), performance tuning, T-SQL/PL-SQL

Tools - SSMS, Oracle Enterprise Manager, monitoring/alerting tools

Domain - Retail/QSR or FMCG industry experience preferred (not mandatory)

Soft Skills - Incident ownership, cross-team collaboration, clear documentation habits


Preferred / Nice-to-Have

  • Exposure to Oracle Fusion HCM/SCM/Finance data structures
  • Scripting for automation (PowerShell/Python)
  • ITIL-based incident/change management exposure
  • Basic understanding of application layer (Flutter/.NET) to support integration troubleshooting


Education & Certifications

  • B.E./B.Tech/MCA in Computer Science, IT, or related field
  • Certifications (preferred, not mandatory): Microsoft Azure Database Administrator Associate (DP-300), Oracle OCP
