Job Profile: Industrial Furniture Designer
Role Overview
We are looking for a technically-driven Industrial Furniture Designer to bridge the gap between creative concept and factory-ready production. This role is focused on the luxury segment, requiring a candidate who can balance high-end aesthetics with rigorous technical documentation and a deep understanding of how various materials behave during the manufacturing process.
Key Responsibilities
* Design Development: Concept and develop new furniture pieces, ensuring they meet the brand’s luxury standards and ergonomic requirements.
* Technical Engineering: Utilize SolidWorks to create precise 3D models, detailed assemblies, and 2D technical drawings for the manufacturing team.
* CMF & Material Strategy: Lead the selection of Color, Material, and Finish (CMF). Research and implement materials that offer the best balance between premium quality and manufacturing cost-efficiency.
* Production Oversight: Collaborate directly with the production floor to ensure designs are manufacturable. Identify and apply the most effective manufacturing techniques for specific materials (solid wood, metal, upholstery, etc.).
* Real-Life Realization: Troubleshoot technical issues during the prototyping phase to ensure the final physical product is a perfect reflection of the initial design intent.
Core Competencies & Skills
* Software Proficiency: Advanced skills in SolidWorks for technical manufacturing drawings and assembly management.
* Manufacturing Expertise: Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, joinery, and fabrication techniques used in the luxury furniture industry.
* Material Science: A deep understanding of material properties, durability, and sourcing cost-effective alternatives without compromising on aesthetic value.
* Technical Accuracy: Ability to translate abstract designs into accurate blueprints that can be handed off directly to a production line.
Candidate Requirements
* Education: Degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, or Furniture Design.
* Technical Portfolio: Must demonstrate a history of taking designs from a sketch to a finished, physical product, including technical breakdowns and material specifications.
* Detail Orientation: A keen eye for CMF details and a passion for understanding the "nuts and bolts" of furniture construction.
