• Role: SAP ABAP Developer S/4HANA Backend Key Responsibilities: Design, develop, and maintain ABAP applications on SAP S/4HANA using object-oriented programming techniques Create and extend Core Data Services CDS views, including annotations for UI, analytics, and OData exposure Implement backend business logic using both classical ABAP and foundational concepts of the RESTful ABAP Programming Model RAP Support development of behavior definitions and implementations, including actions, determinations, and validations
• Develop and integrate services using OData, RFC, IDoc, and SOAP-based interfaces Collaborate with frontend and integration teams to ensure proper service consumption and data consistency Perform debugging and issue analysis using SAP tools such as ST22, SLG1, SAT, and SQL Monitor Assist in performance tuning by analyzing database access and leveraging CDS and Open SQL capabilities Ensure adherence to development standards, including Clean ABAP principles, code inspections, and testing practices Participate in development lifecycle activities, including transport management and version control
• Required Skills and Experience: 2–4 years of professional experience in ABAP development Strong proficiency in ABAP Objects, modular programming, and standard design patterns
• Hands-on experience with SAP S/4HANA, including understanding key differences from ECC e.g., CDS views, compatibility views, embedded analytics Practical experience with CDS view development, including extensions and annotations Working knowledge of the RESTful ABAP Programming Model (RAP), including:
• Behavior Definitions and Behavior Extensions Implementation of actions, determinations, and validations Experience with integration technologies such as OData services, IDoc, RFC, or SOAP-based interfaces Strong debugging and analysis skills across ABAP and SQL layers Basic understanding of performance optimization and database artifacts CDS, AMDP, SQL Familiarity with SAP transport system, versioning, and standard development lifecycle practices
• Nice to Have: Exposure to SAP BTP or cloud-based ABAP environments Knowledge of Fiori Elements and CDS-based UI annotations Basic understanding of CI/CD pipelines in SAP environments Awareness of authorization concepts in SAP systems
